• Visas can be obtained upon arrival in Ghana but can be costly, consider getting your visa prior to departure from the country of your origin.

There are many major air lines offering services to and from Ghana from the UK and the USA. If you are visiting from the USA, please check with your Travel Agents or the air line companies direct for your best connection.US travelers can cut the time spent in the air by getting a connected flight via the UK or Amsterdam.

Traveling from the UK.

The options are many, it depends how quickly you want to get there and weather you prefer to arrive by night or day.

The 3 major air lines are Virgin, British Airways and KLM. Virgin and British Airways are no stop and takes approx. 6hrs. KLM, you will need to change in Amsterdam making the flight time 9-10hours. There are many other airlines that you can use which are less costly but you may experience 1 or more connection which makes the flight much longer. Talk with your travel agents for best options.

Upon arrival in Ghana

Depending on the time of your arrival, some flights arrive as early as 5AM or early evening to late night, the Villa Sankofa can arrange to meet and greet you upon request. However, there are alternatives:

There are internal flights between Accra and Kumasi. The flight time is approx. 30-40 minutes.

Buses and minibuses operate from Accra to Kumasi
Distance from Accra to Kumasi approx. (255KM – 158 miles)
Journey time approx. 4 hours.
Car Rental is also available, Ghana drives on the Left, major roads are well maintained but minor roads can be in poor condition.
Self drive car rental is not popular, you can hire a driver and car.

Transportation by road

We can meet clients at Kotoka Intl airport or Kumasi airport at a cost to be discussed. If you arrive at night, we can arrange accommodation in Accra for the night so you can continue your journey the following day to Kumasi.
